Learn more about this agency Responsibilities * Applies a variety of complex mathematical and statistical theory and techniques and specialized quantitative areas to support the Operations Directorate, Agency's ?Quantitative Methods Team, and field elements. * Conducts rigorous analysis to solve highly complex problems and integrate mathematical and statistical methods to help validate and support findings of the audit, other reviews, and reports. * Provides advice in determining the appropriate advance statistical sampling, analytics and methodologies to use based on the derived or modified theory. * Advises on the formulation of mathematical models to produce critical and defensible results that support Agency audits. * Participates as a technical expert on DCAA working groups to include the Agency's ?Quantitative Methods Team and other internal or external DoD workgroups and communities. Qualifications Basic Requirement: * Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing. or * Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance. Specialized Experience: In addition to meeting the basic requirements, you must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade or equivalent level. For the GS-13, Specialized experience is defined as applying knowledge of probability or sampling theory by designing simple random and complex stratified sample plans, drawing statistical samples, calculating statistical results and explaining the results to individuals with little or no statistical knowledge. For the GS-14, Specialized experience is defined as conducting studies requiring in-depth analysis of statistical program requirements; providing administrative and technical coordination of a statistical operation associated with data collection/ processing activities; and utilizing various software and computer programs to perform statistical data analyses and report findings. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
