Red Rocks Community College is seeking applications for a full-time Executive Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to join our Executive Leadership team!

Summary of Position:

The Executive Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) serves as the principal diversity officer at the College. In support of the college's mission, vision, strategic plan, and core values, the Executive Director of DEI is responsible for leading the college's Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion with oversight that encompasses several areas within the college that address student and employee academic engagement, climate, access, and equity. In addition, the Executive Director of DEI as member of the Executive Cabinet works with the Cabinet to ensure a coordinated and cohesive institutional approach to diversity, equity, inclusion and organizational excellence.

Required Qualifications:

• A Master's degree in social justice, post-secondary education, sociology, social anthropology, public administration, human resource management or another related field.

o Experience performing the duties described above may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

• Five Years progressive administrative and management leadership experience in a higher educational setting.

• One (1) year experience working with executive and administrative staff

• Demonstrated sustained, inclusive and decisive leadership in higher education.

• Additional job-related education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in creating and establishing an Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

• Five Years Community College management experience.

• College teaching experience with curriculum development.

• Membership in or experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of students and staff from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented in the College.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Verbal and written communication skills including the ability to give and receive information accurately, present information to groups and in public settings and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

• The understanding of student development theories through a critical lens.

Description of Position

Access and Equity

• Provide vision and leadership through strategic planning and process development in order to transition the College to a fully accepting and inclusive community of learners.

• Improve college DEI performance metrics surrounding employees and students by evaluating institutional and community data. Establish an internal audit process and reporting system to allow for effective measurement of College diversity and equity efforts and produce reports to the College community.

• Assist the college in strengthening pipelines that actively work to recruit, retain and promote the success of underrepresented faculty, staff and students. Work closely with the Dean of Enrollment Management in the recruitment of a diverse student body and Human Resources in the pursuit of a more diverse faculty and staff.

• Collaborate with K-12 and college partners to facilitate increased educational attainment for students from marginalized communities.

• Identify and develop strategies to remove barriers faced by under-served students and employees.

• Oversee periodic assessments of the campus climate and use results to design programs and interventions to improve culture.

• Exhibit innovation in responding to present-day requirements while proactively preparing for the future demographic and innovative shifts for the college.

• Lead RRCC in the annual review of college policies and procedures with an equity and diversity framework. Assist Human Resources in the review of policies and procedures for recruitment, onboarding and continuous development of employees.

Academic Engagement

• Assist faculty to provide culturally responsive pedagogical approaches by integrating diversity, equity and inclusion into curriculum development, instructional strategies and service.

• Collaborate with Student Success in co-curricular engagement including highimpact practices that serve a diverse student body.

• Manage the recognition of community-engaged learning and services of employees who engage in formal or informal forms of mentorship with other faculty, staff and/or students from underrepresented backgrounds.

• Work to achieve cross-unit objectives in support of institutional efforts.

Climate

• Lead the identification, planning, implementation and assessment of educational programming and training to make the College a more equitable, inclusive community and a sense of belonging for students and employees.

• Cultivate a psychological and behavioral environment supportive of all faculty, staff and students inclusive of all intersecting identities through mechanisms to assess and mitigate harassment.

• Build strong relationships and establish collaborative partnerships across the college with students, faculty, and staff as well as with other divisions, department and units.

• Serve in a consultant role to informally and formally investigate complaints and attempt to resolve them, usually through recommendations or mediation. Work to resolve Civil Rights Incident Reports in collaboration with Human Resources.

• Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion programming into broader structures for creating a welcoming and supportive campus community (Affirmative Action, Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, etc.).

• Provide oversight for all campus diversity and inclusion compliance efforts for students, faculty, and staff, including Title IX, Title VII and Section 504. Serve as Deputy Title IX Coordinator and work to achieve Title IX application throughout the College.

• Serve as a member of the campus response team, as appropriate.

• Serve as a liaison to outside agencies. Lead a college/community advisory group to involve local citizens and alumni for diversity and inclusion efforts.

• Assist Campus Police/Public Safety with concerns, policies affecting campus climate.
