Cardno is seeking an Archaeologist to join our cultural resources group consisting of archaeologists, architectural historians, historians, and planners. Our group works with a multidisciplinary team of accomplished biologists, hydrologists, geologists, engineers, and planners on a variety of projects in the western United States. The position will consist of local work and will require travel to other regions as needed. Job Description: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: > Work with senior cultural resource staff
> Navigate using project maps, topographic maps, compass, and GPS
> Conduct survey, testing, and data recovery of archaeological sites
> Conduct construction monitoring for archaeological resources
> Artifact identification
> Maintain detailed field notes Basic Qualifications: > Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field of study
> 4- years of relevant experience required > Experience with completing inventory, survey, testing, and/or data recovery
> Knowledge of material culture
> Knowledge of Great Basin, Northwest Coast, and Columbian Plateau culture areas
> Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
> Must be locally available for projects
> Ability and willingness to frequently travel to field sites that will be located in and out of state
> Must be able to walk long distances (up to ten miles per day) in varying terrain under adverse conditions, including inclement weather, wildlife encounters, and able to life and carry up to 50 lbs
> Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehicles
> Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship Desired Qualifications: > Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field
> Previous experience with mapping equipment and other special application equipment (e.g., total station, GPS, etc.)
> Previous laboratory materials processing experience desired
> Strong oral and written communication skills
> Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
> Detail oriented; resourceful
> Positive and energetic attitude
