Post Doctoral Teaching Associate, Cultural Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville seeks a full-time Post Doctoral Teaching Associate (9-month appointment, with benefits) in cultural anthropology, to begin August 1, 2021. The position is for one academic year.   The successful candidate will have an active teaching and research agenda that contributes to the department’s Disasters, Displacement and Human Rights (DDHR) undergraduate concentration and graduate certificate program. Ability to teach existing courses covering topics such as African Diaspora, Race and Racism, Identity and Inequality, or Caribbean Cultures is preferred.  The teaching load will be “2 & 2” (50% effort), with an expectation that the candidate will contribute to research and service in support of DDHR (50% effort). The latter may include planning a conference, organizing events, contributing to collaborative research with initiatives on campus, or supervising undergraduate and graduate student research projects.

The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in anthropology, with a specialization in cultural or social anthropology in hand at the time of appointment.
