Visiting Assistant Professor Position in Medical Anthropology and Global Health

The Department of Anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position in our program in medical anthropology and global health beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year.  The appointment will be for a one-year period with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional one-year periods. Candidates may begin in August 2021 or January 2022.

The teaching load is two courses per semester and includes teaching both undergraduate and graduate students.  We seek candidates with a broad background in the field of medical anthropology and welcome expertise in all areas of medical anthropology and global health. Current departmental needs include comparative medical systems, psychological anthropology, global mental health, urban health, reproductive health, political economy of health, migration and globalization, health disparities, and/or other courses the applicant proposes as central to medical anthropology. The Department values the expertise to offer a geographic area course. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching medical anthropology, although experience is not required. The successful applicant will be encouraged and assisted in developing a research program.  Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or comparable degree by date of appointment. Fall semester classes begin 23rd August 2021.  Spring semester classes begin on 10th January 2022.
