The Research Associate II will work with senior research staff within the Behavioral, Epidemiological, and Clinical Sciences (BECS) division and with other departments within FHI 360 to implement, manage, and conduct research studies. Will make detailed evaluations and observations and analyze data and interpret results using qualitative/quantitative methods as appropriate.

Immediate project responsibilities include:
  • Development, implementation, and analysis support for a large endline survey
  • Data collector training
  • Report writing based on data analyses
  • Monitoring and evaluation database support

Additional responsibilities may include:
  • Assists with the design and implementation of research studies.
  • Plans, organizes, and manages resources/processes for successful completion of study.
  • Provides input with interview and focus group guide and survey development, data analysis, study design, and material management.
  • Develops training materials and conducts training for study implementation based on company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Develops, reviews, and maintains key study documents to ensure adequate resource and reference documentation.
  • Serves as the liaison with internal and external partners to ensure effective collaboration efforts.
  • Oversees planning of meetings, site visits, and drafting necessary documents.

Education:
  • Master's Degree or its International Equivalent • Anthropology, Psychology, Public Health & Behavior, Health Policy, Health, Behavioral, Life or Social Sciences, International Development, Human Development or Related Field preferred. Communications, Education considered.

Experience:
  • Typically requires >5 years of research or evaluation experience with project management, study implementation and manuscript development.
  • Experience leading quantitative analyses of large datasets.
  • Experience supporting the quantitative data needs of research or programmatic activities; experience with low-resource settings (e.g., rural Sub-Saharan Africa) is a plus.
  • Experience conducting data management and analysis in a statistical analysis software package (e.g., SAS, R, Stata).
  • Familiarity or experience with logic models and monitoring and evaluation research.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and bibliographic databases (e.g., Endnote).
  • Related prior work experience preferred.

  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff
  • Able to juggle multiple projects with different timelines
  • Familiarity with mixed methods and qualitative approaches
  • Experience with data visualization platforms like MS Power BI desired
  • Working knowledge of or fluency in French desired

Travel Requirements:
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%

Supervision Given/Received:
  • Receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments
  • Typically reports to a manager/director

Typical Physical Demands:
  • Typical office environment. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift 5-50 lbs.

  • Personal Computer, Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), e-mail, telephone, printer, calculator, copier, cell phones, PDAs and other hand held devices.
