Job Overview

The Department of Communication in the College of Arts & Sciences is accepting applications to fill the position of Program Manager. This full-time (100% FTE) position is based in the Department of Communication, but also supports the Departments of Geography, Anthropology, Journalism and Philosophy in our mission to serve the students, faculty, staff and general constituency of the university.

Essential Functions

  • Manage, design, develop, modify and present programs. Perform program needs assessment and make recommendations.
  • Implement policies and procedures.
  • Maintain budget, prepare contracts, approve and monitor expenditures, prepare budget requests and financial reports.
  • Act as liaison to internal departments, external entities and community organizations.
  • May prepare and edit reports and/or newsletters and develop publication materials.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.


Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.


Required Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience in program development or business administration.
  • May require supervision experience.


Additional Qualifications Considered

The successful candidate for this fast-paced position will have experience prioritizing work and meeting deadlines; have some familiarity with UC systems - specifically our student information system (Catalyst and Cart); and prior college/university experience a plus.
