As a key member of the Research team, the Senior Experience Researcher will act as an advocate for our clients' customers and/or end users. The Senior Experience Researcher's primary job will be to facilitate the discovery, articulation and application of customer insights throughout the design process. Responsibilities include:
  • Framing of the problem to be solved
  • Facilitating research team planning and execution
  • Facilitating client conversations
  • Collaborating with designers and client stakeholders to make informed design decisions
  • Analyzing, synthesizing and narrating customer insight in an actionable and meaningful way
  • Utilizing insights to inform concept generation, product and business requirements, design updates and market strategy

Essential Job Functions
  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team on user experience research approaches and execution
  • Educating clients on the value of primary research to support key initiatives
  • Leading and conducting a variety of research activities, including in-context and remote interviews, surveys, concept iteration and testing and other forms of formative, iterative, and evaluative research
  • Executing research to ensure a holistic, user-centered approach ­- from concept to completion
  • Extrapolating business needs and priorities from stakeholders
  • Facilitating key discussions with disparate viewpoints within stakeholder groups
  • Translating business and customer insights into actionable product opportunities
  • Performing user interviews and research as appropriate
  • Articulating research findings and output in an actionable and visual manner
  • Developing product roadmaps and long-term client strategies
  • Presenting stories and ideas (Workshops, PowerPoint, Keynote, Video, Word, etc.)
  • Evangelizing qualitative and quantitative design research (value, impact and process)
  • Business development support for the offering: facilitating conversations with clients and prospects on the value, impact and process of qualitative and quantitative design research.
  • Performing other duties as assigned


The ideal candidate must be passionate about uncovering customer behavior, needs, goals and motivations to inform the design and innovation of products and services. The ideal candidate will be curious and will thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction. In addition, the ideal candidate will have an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. The candidate will also have experience in fast-paced and innovative environments and be comfortable with ambiguity. A thorough understanding and previous experience in both qualitative and quantitative user-centered design research methodologies, as well as experience with a wide variety of business cultures, is a must.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 3 or more years of work experience in user experience research
  • Strong storytelling ability
  • Clear awareness of digital marketplace trends
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience with standard UCD methodologies across multiple platforms
  • Clear leadership and collaboration skills
  • Past experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to translate abstract ideas into actionable, solution-oriented frameworks
  • Strong client facing presentation and speaking skills
  • Strong understanding of common software development practices
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Anthropology, Design, Design Research, Interaction Design, New Media Design, Industrial Design, HCI, Human Factors/Ergonomics or related field
Preferred Additional Skills
  • Previous digital agency experience
  • Clear understanding of creative processes, including storytelling
  • Knowledge of data analysis/statistics for analyzing survey and/or behavioral data
