The UW Medicine Office of Healthcare Equity (https://depts.washington.edu/uwmedptn/strategies-programs/healthcare-equity/) has an outstanding opportunity for a DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Training Specialist Lead (Program Operations Specialist). The DEI Training Specialist Lead is responsible for supporting the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of UW Medicine-wide strategic plans to deliver ongoing education for faculty, staff, residents, and other members of the UW Medicine community. Education will focus on a variety of topics, including but not limited to - education on trauma-informed care, cultural competence, health literacy, patient- and family-centered care, and health equity in alignment with UW Medicine's goals promote greater equity in the delivery of patient care. The position also contributes toward the University's overall mission related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Development, delivery, and evaluation of DEI education and training:
• Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of UW Medicine-wide strategic plans to deliver ongoing trainings and other educational programs for faculty, staff, residents, and others.
• Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of educational initiatives to determine impact, assess outcomes, and make recommendations for improvement.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on DEI-related training and education initiatives that contribute to the goals of UW Medicine and the UW Medicine Office of Healthcare Equity.
Train staff trainers on DEI curriculum:
• Using a "Train the Trainer" model, coach and mentor staff to become culturally competent trainers; develop and support units in creating plans to increase cultural competence, address existing inequities, etc.
Track and deliver DEI training opportunities across UW Medicine:
• Create mechanisms to track and share DEI educational opportunities for various populations (faculty, staff, etc.) within UW Medicine.
• Develop systems to document, track, and report on training attendance, etc.
Strategic planning, research, and project management:
• Serve on committees or participate in DEI-related working groups as directed by the Chief Equity Officer.
• Review current academic literature and trends in healthcare to develop evidence-based educational programs and research and benchmark DEI training and related activities at peer institutions to identify best practices.
• Manage new projects and special initiatives as under the direction of the Chief Healthcare Equity Officer, Director of Program Operations, or others in leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as the lead, but not necessarily the supervisor of record, for another DEI Training Specialist.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's degree in ethnic studies, social work, psychology, sociology, anthropology, history, communications, or related field. Three to four years of demonstrated experience in successfully developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs on topics of diversity, equity, inclusion, and/or multiculturalism.
Additional requirements:
• Demonstrated experience using technology and a variety of media in the delivery of educational/training programs.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and educate a variety of populations about issues of social justice, antiracism, healthcare equity, privilege and marginality, and multiple, complex and intersectional identities.
• Demonstrated experience serving as a leader in a work setting, with attention to developing staff, facilitating communication, and aligning goals across functional areas.
• Demonstrated experience in working across difference and maximizing the richness gained from a variety of worldviews, perspectives, and epistemologies.
• Demonstrated experience with project management.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements. DESIRED REQUIREMENTS
• Master's degree (or equivalent) or higher.
• Demonstrated experience working and/or training in a higher education setting.
• Demonstrated experience in training other trainers.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and classroom teaching, particularly in a higher education setting.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum/instructional design for adult learners.
