The Strategy & Insights (S&I) Department promotes best practice in program design, marketing discipline, research, learning, and strategy development. S&I works with other departments to systematically capture, synthesize, and share internal and external evidence, consumer and market insights, competitive market intelligence, and program experience. As part of S&I, the Strategic Research and Learning Team is accountable for establishing and advancing an organizational learning agenda, ensuring the identification and exchange of learning, and for the implementation and use of quality, fit-for-purpose, ethical research.

Your contribution

Consultant tasks can include:
  • Lead or support the design, implementation, analysis and/or use of qualitative and/or quantitative research
  • Lead or support the analysis of secondary research data, monitoring data, or client
  • Lead or support the development of training or dissemination
  • Lead or support the development of protocols for submission to Research Ethics Boards or Internal Review
  • Conduct desk reviews, literature reviews, or market landscaping
  • Lead (or support) the production of technical briefs, peer review publications, insights PowerPoint decks, and blog


What are we looking for?
  • Master's Degree or PhD in relevant field (e.g., implementation science, public health, anthropology, sociology, demography, epidemiology, behavioral science)
  • Research experience in the areas of at least one of the following:
    • Sexual and reproductive health (experience in research into self-injection, safe abortion, and medical abortion preferred);
    • Gender-based violence;
    • Water and sanitation (experience in urban sanitation preferred);
    • Malaria;
    • Self-diagnostics (experience in HIV self-testing and HPV self-sampling preferred);
    • Digital health;
    • Primary health care/health services utilization;
    • Marketing research (branding, pricing, and product studies)
    • Health economics; and/or
    • Value for money and cost effectiveness
  • Experience conducting outcome/impact evaluation
  • Experience in evidence synthesis and communication
  • Proven track record of academic publications and knowledgeable of the process for peer review journal
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong facilitation skills with multidisciplinary, international groups
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience in adaptive implementation, human centered design, or developmental evaluation
  • Experience conducting cross-sectional, longitudinal, MLM, or SEM analysis in Stata
  • Experience conducting randomized controlled trials and other complex sampling designs
  • Experience using SurveyCTO or other mobile data collection platform
  • French or Portuguese language preferred.
