*Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Cultural Anthropology*

The George Mason University College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff.

*About the Position:* The department seeks a cultural anthropologist whose area of specialization is the Middle East, whose research addresses migration and refugees in a global context. The position will reside in the Global Affairs Program.

Mason's Global Affairs Program is looking for a candidate who can contribute in teaching, advising, and programming to both the indicated area of specialization as well as the core curriculum in our undergraduate and graduate programs.

*Responsibilities:* The successful candidate will be expected to sustain a robust research program in their area of expertise, produce peer-reviewed publications, seek grant funding, engage in multidisciplinary collaborations, mentor graduate students and honors students at the undergraduate level in the program, teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, participate in faculty governance, and participate in professional organizations and societies.

*Required Qualifications:* * Ph.D. in Anthropology or closely related field; * Must demonstrate potential for excellence in scholarship, and in graduate and undergraduate teaching.

*Preferred Qualifications:* * Applicants with active field research on transnational migration and refugees focused on the Middle East; * Ability to teach university core courses in globalization studies (Intro to Global Affairs, Capstone) and teach specialized undergraduate and graduate courses on the Middle East, Refugees, Humanitarianism; * Applicants with experience teaching in an interdisciplinary classroom setting.
