Applied Linguist or Computational Linguist - Customer Insights Team

Job Description
Understanding natural language and human communications is core to Decooda's mission. We are currently seeking an individual with a background in applied linguistics that also has some experience with computational linguistics. The perfect candidate would also have some education or a strong interest in any of the following: psychology, sociology, anthropology or marketing.

This person will be an integral member of the Customer Text Analytics team that supports the development of cognitive taxonomy classifiers, regular expression, Boolean and machine learning classifiers. This team will be doing some of the most exciting Customer Facing NLU work in the industry. The output of the NLU team is foundational to our work in understanding the context of human communications, conversational bot technology development and graph knowledge development.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the skills and qualifications listed below or will offer convincing evidence that these skills can be learned/developed rapidly.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree or Master's in linguistics, preferably corpus linguistics
• Some computational linguistics skills or experience
• Strong statistical skills
• Knowledge of statistical packages such as: SPSS, SAS, or R
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel in particular)
• Experience with social media and survey data sets
• Strong out-of-the-box problem solving skills
• Marketing Analytics
