User Experience Researcher III

Overall Responsibilities:
- Support designing and conducting different types of research studies, including lab-based usability studies, field studies, and surveys. Namely:
- Prepare user research activities
- Plan, observe and moderate usability testing sessions and interviews
- Administer questionnaires, surveys, and interviews
- Analyze qualitative data
- Create reports
- Collaborate with product teams to define and prioritize research questions.
Top Daily Responsibilities:
- Prepare, run and analyze studies
- Ensure effective communication of research findings
- Keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
- Conduct independent research on multiple aspects of how users engage with novel products and experiences.
- Collect and analyze user behavior via quantitative methods, benchmark studies, lab studies and surveys.
- Work with designers, product managers, engineers and research managers to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research.
- Evangelize research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and oral presentations.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
- Excellent working knowledge of statistics and the principles of experiment design.
- Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability operate in a very fast-paced environment.
- A deep desire to apply design toward expanding what's possible and improving the world.
Skill/Experience/Education Mandatory
- B.A./B.S. (completed) or M.A/M.S./Ph.D. in Human Factors, Psychology, HCI/Computer Science, or other field emphasizing human behavior; or in lieu or degree, some related work experience.
- Detail-oriented and ability to work fairly independently on a variety of tasks.
- General research and user research methods.
- Project management, event planning, or coordination experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Can prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible by adapting to changing schedules and different projects. Technical aptitude, familiarity with basic graphic and video editing tools preferred. Knowledge of basic statistical concepts preferred.
- OK with flexible working hours BA/BS in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
