The AECOM Cultural Resources Team is currently seeking a candidate to conduct laboratory analysis of Euro-Canadian and Pre-Contact artifacts as well as light administrative duties in the Richmond Hill, Ontario office and one for Ontario offices in general.

Responsibilities and duties include but aren't limited to the following:
  • Process, sort and catalogue numerous archaeological artifacts. In this position, you will work closely with the Senior Laboratory Specialist and must have a willingness to learn and develop professionally where required. Assisting in the writing of archaeological reports will also be a key responsibility.
  • Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
  • Collects and enters data, and applies technical principles and theories.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS in archaeology, anthropology (or in progress), or a related field.
  • Cover letters must demonstrate how education in a related field is an acceptable equivalent.

  • Demonstrated dedication to following and promoting a strong health and safety culture
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Dedication to learning required laboratory skills under the direction of the Senior Laboratory Specialist.
  • Must have a valid drivers licence and access to a vehicle as travel between the Richmond Hill office and other locations will be required (Mileage will be paid).
  • Must be able to write legibly on small bags and containers.
  • Meticulous attention to detail while processing hundreds of archaeological material in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Able to be organized and efficient working under demanding deadlines while ensuring the safety and care of the archaeological collections.
  • Conducting both archaeological and historical research.
  • Pre-contact and historic artifact identification.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism & Culture Industries' legislation surrounding archaeological and heritage assessments
  • Basic knowledge of the heritage planning process including the identification of built heritage and/or cultural heritage landscapes.
