Your Impact:
Jacobs Environmental Science and Planning group seeks a mid-level on-call Archaeologist with experience in the US Pacific Northwest to be based in our Bellevue, Washington office. This position involves providing cultural resources support for planning, engineering, and construction services to government and private clients.
In this role you'll tackle archaeological survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring, as well as other tasks as assigned. You'll serve as a senior crew chief or archaeological field director on field projects and a primary/co-author on reports. You'll use your experience to do analysis of archaeological materials, keep detailed field notes and archaeological site records, and research. You'll work outdoors in remote locations and for extended periods under all weather conditions, often traversing rugged terrain. You'll be expected to work on projects and clients in both the public and private sectors, including multiple projects at a time.
Here's What You'll Need:
-M.A./M.S. Degree or higher in Anthropology with an emphasis in Archaeology
-A minimum of 5 years' experience in the field
-Previous experience as a crew chief or field director
-Meets Secretary of the Interior's Professional Standards and Guidelines for Archaeology (36 CFR 61)
-Demonstrated skills in cultural resources management, including supervisory experience on survey and excavation projects
-Knowledge of federal historic preservation laws and policies, including NEPA, NHPA, ARPA, and NAGPRA, as well as Washington, Oregon, and other regional state laws and policies.
-Knowledge of computers and GPS equipment, including MS Office Suite
-Ability/willingness to travel to distant or remote sites, for extended periods as necessary
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Organizational and time management skills to effectively complete assigned workload within defined timelines and in accordance with established standards
-Experience in Washington and Oregon
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
-At least 8 years of field experience in archaeological survey and excavation
-Additional experience in historical archaeology, lithic analysis, faunal analysis, ethnography, GIS, and/or osteology
-Registered Professional Archaeologist
-Experience working in the consulting environment
-Demonstrated experience with renewable energy and transmission line/utility corridor projects.
