Overview

We are seeking a qualitative or mixed methods researcher to join our User Experience team. As a User Experience researcher, you will be responsible for designing, managing, conducting and analyzing user- and market-centered research studies to help Benefitfocus gain insights to drive our product and design strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates logistics and assists in participant management and recruitment.
  • Identifies ideal research approaches based on research questions, timelines, and resources
  • Designs, conducts, and analyzes user research studies that generate actionable findings and insights across research areas - including the Benefitfocus platform and user journey.
  • Maintains, monitors and facilitates user and market feedback opportunities.
  • Works closely with other associates across the company, including User Experience Designers, Product Owners, Product Managers, and Software Engineers.
  • Facilitates cross-functional collaboration to identify, prioritize, plan and implement insight-driven improvements and inform product, customer and business strategy.
  • Work with Designers and Product Managers to rapidly iterate on multiple design solutions based on user feedback

Required Skills
  • Experience with a range of user research methods, including surveys, IDIs/dyads/triads, focus groups, workshops, usability evaluations, ethnographies/contextual interviews, heuristic evaluations, and card sorts/tree tests
  • Research design, including selecting appropriate methodologies, sample type and size
  • Creation of research documents, including screeners, surveys, interview guides and reports
  • Compiling and documenting research findings and identifying patterns and trends
  • Presenting and socializing research findings in a clear, concise and compelling manner 
  • Participant management and coordination
  • Asking and answering meaningful and impactful questions
  • Experience in survey, user testing and insights software
  • Research best practices, conventions and standards
  • Leveraging interpersonal skills to motivate and drive collaboration

Education & Experience
  • BA in human-computer interaction, anthropology, sociology, market research, information science, or related field
  • Suggested years of experience: 3-5 years 
  • Experienced professional performing self-directed work
  • Demonstrates sound judgement when working independently, obtaining solutions and taking action on improvements
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Flexibility and creativity in problem-solving
