Are you a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or want to become one?

What is an RBT?

Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) are therapists working one-on-one with children diagnosed on the autism spectrum. As a Behavior Therapist/RBT you will implement an ABA treatment plan designed and guided by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). As an RBT, you will help the children acquire new skills and work toward the goals of building communication, social interactions, problem-solving and adaptive living skills.

Becoming an RBT

Does the role of an RBT sound like something you want to take on, but you're concerned you don't have the right qualifications?

We provide complimentary on-the-job training for our ABA therapists to become licensed RBTs. The 40-hour course, RBT® Competency Assessment and RBT® exam - which FAC pays for! - can all be completed in a matter of five weeks or less.

How will I make a difference in a child's life?

By…

• Independently conducting behavior therapy sessions using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis
• Addressing program objectives using procedures approved by the programmer and BCBA and/or BCaBA
• Collecting and recording data accurately and efficiently in accordance with policies established by FAC and in compliance with all requirements for ABA providers and the standards of the field outlined by the ABA governing body
• Demonstrating basic competency with Behavior Therapist skill requirements
• Communicating clearly and effectively with clients and families
• Abiding by all state and federal rules and regulations guiding ABA services
• Performing all other duties as assigned

How do I know my experience is a good fit?

If you…

• Have a High School Diploma (Required)
• Have the ability to work Monday-Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm (Required)
• Some college experience or College Graduate (Preferred)
• Are a college graduate with a degree in the following fields: Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Human Services, Physical Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, Special Education and/or similiar programs (Preferred)
• Have experience with children ages 18 months-13 years old (Preferred)
• Have experience working with children with special needs (Preferred)
• Have experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) field (Preferred)
• Possess a current RBT certification (Preferred)
• Have a Florida or Georgia approved Medicaid Provider number (Preferred)
