As a Workplace Research Strategist with Hines at Facebook, you will be focusing on workplace research and strategy as part of a research team under Global Workplace Design at Facebook, while also connecting with operations, security and culinary. You will also monitor relevant areas within hospitality, retail, urban design and understanding underlying mega-trends such as economic, cultural and generational shifts. Core themes of research include workplace design, future of work, employee experience, culture, productivity, collaboration, focus work and diversity & inclusion. Broader research themes include attraction & retention, engagement, health & well-being, sustainability, and technology. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Monitor industry events, attend conferences, webinars and connect with peers, experts and professionals in both the industry and academia
  • Network and build relationships, explore and broaden our research focus, that ultimately connects to the future of work and workplace
  • Distill learnings in a thoughtful and concise manner and disseminate relevant knowledge via effective communication vehicles (such as leadership newsletters, blog posts or article reviews)
  • Explore new ways of connecting the dots among various functions (such as organizing research summits, workshops or think tanks)
  • Conduct benchmarking studies, comparative analyses and site visits to better understand current competitive landscape of industry
  • Coordinate meetings with thought leaders (such as peers, industry experts or academics)
  • Build and maintain a knowledge repository and resources platform
  • Conduct secondary research, literature reviews, meta-analyses and data analyses (both quantitative and qualitative)
  • Lead or participate in field research projects, involving project management, communication, data collection, data analysis and reporting
  • Strategically collaborate and work with leadership to ensure that the overall research direction is followed
  • Collaborate with point of contacts for research alignment
  • Coordinate research projects with external vendors and consultants to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope and within budget
  • Facilitate focus groups, conduct interviews and observations with end-users
  • Assist & prepare presentation materials for leadership


Minimum Requirements include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Anthropology, Psychology from an accredited institution
  • Ten or more years' of experience in Architecture & Design, Corporate Real Estate and/or Workplace Services (client focused or client side)
  • Experience in consulting, strategy, and research is a must, plus work independently and as part of a team effectively and in a detailed manner
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment with often-changing priorities
  • Ability to take initiative and direction without much hands-on management
  • Maintain positive internal and external relationships
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and the ability to convey complex thoughts via visuals and concise narratives
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent presentation skills, translating large amount of information in a concise way to arrive at key points and takeaways
  • Organized, precise and analytical, while able to think outside the box and connect the dots
