Job Details

The Department of Anthropology at Appalachian State University seeks candidates for a one-year non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor in sociocultural anthropology. Applicants must have a PhD in anthropology by the time of the start date as well as a specialization in gender and sexuality studies. Candidates from underrepresented groups in higher education are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a salaried position that carries benefits.

The successful hire will teach a 4/4 load that includes courses for both General Education and for the B.S. and B.A. programs of study in the major. Courses will include teaching two general education courses (Gender, Race, and Class and Understanding Culture), core intro course for the major (Cultural Anthropology), and a course based upon their research expertise.
