Job Description:

Raritan Valley Community College has an anticipated opening of Instructor, Anthropology Tenure-Track in the Humanities, Social Sciences & Education Department.

Instruction of 5 courses per semester including multiple sections of Introduction to Cultural Anthropology and Human Origins in accordance with College and departmental guidelines.

Teach courses in varied modalities, times, and locations to support institutional needs.

Commitment to the principles of a learning centered institution.

Assist with the development and maintenance of disciplinary curricula.

Demonstrate or be willing to acquire skills for teaching on-line and remote courses.

Demonstrate on-going professional development within the discipline.

Regularly evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives, and inform them, in a timely manner, of their progress.

Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing, utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.

Regularly evaluate courses to ensure that learning outcomes and assessments are appropriate and effective.

Review, evaluate, and recommend student learning materials.

Provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.

Assist with departmental strategic planning and outcomes assessment.

Demonstrate a commitment to working with a diverse student body and college community.

Maintain professional relationships with students and members of the college community.

Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary department which includes serving on college-wide committees that require departmental representation.

Adhere to College policies and procedures.


Master's degree in Anthropology from an accredited college or university is required; Ph.D. preferred.

Minimum of two years' prior teaching in Anthropology strongly preferred, including Introduction to Cultural Anthropology; college level preferred.

Demonstrated professional development related to Anthropology.

Demonstrate or be willing to acquire skills for instructing online courses.
