Conduct research at the IC² Institute, a “think and do” tank at The University of Texas at Austin concerned with understanding communities outside major urban corridors and how they can become more collaborative and resilient through a human-centered approach. Work under the supervision of Professor Art Markman. The initial assignment is for one year from initial hire date, renewable for additional one-year periods (up to a total of 3 years) based on performance and funding. This position will include a full-time benefits package.
Responsibilities
- Perform research on various topics related to rural or remote communities and economic development.
- Participate/assist in writing of publications in scholarly journals.
- Present research progress and finding at meetings and conferences.
- Train and mentor undergraduate research assistants or graduate research assistants.
- Assist in grant writing.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary research team.
Required Qualifications
- PhD received within the past 3 years in psychology, sociology, anthropology, communications, or a social science with emphasis on both quantitative and qualitative data and one that allows an interdisciplinary approach.
- Experience publishing research findings.
- Demonstrated expertise with both quantitative and qualitative data gathering and analysis, including regression analysis and structural equation modeling.
- Experience programming in R for data analysis
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale survey data management and analysis.
- Experience programming in Python, Java, C++, SQL, or other language relevant to data analysis
- Experience with longitudinal or geospatial data analysis.
