About University of Victoria, Anthropology Department
The University of Victoria became a degree granting institution in 1963, but its history spans 100 years and an entire continent. UVic has an enrollment of just over 18,000 students. The 160-hectare campus is a 15 minute drive from downtown Victoria, easily accessible by car, bus and bicycle and is only a short stroll from the beach. At UVic you can enjoy interdisciplinary and non-traditional approaches to your research with access to our many Centres and Institutes. Several of our faculty work with one or more of these Centres ~ Centre for Earth and Ocean Research; Centre for Studies in Religion and Society; Centre on Aging; Institute for Dispute Resolutions; Canada Centre for Climate Modelling and Prediction; Canadian Climate Centre and Centre for Environmental Health just to name a few.
