As the largest unit on campus, the College of Arts and Sciences forms the academic core of the Carolina experience. College faculty have been recognized for their outstanding research, teaching and engagement in the fine arts and humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and mathematics. The College is home to more than 16,000 undergraduate students, including all of the University’s first-year and second-year students, and more than 75 percent of junior and senior majors. More than 2,500 graduate students study and teach in the College, the largest group of graduate students on campus.
