To collect data on the job market for anthropologists, we turned to this career career center, Anthropology Careers and Employment, which is open to employers of any sector.
From the 2016–2017 and 2017–2018 academic hiring cycles, ACE accumulated 767 unique advertisements for open positions, nearly 85% of which were academic jobs for candidates who have recently received their terminal degree or reached ABD status, which we termed early-career academic (ECA) jobs.
We sorted ECA vacancies into seven sub-categories:
