The Anthropology Department at SUNY Potsdam is accepting on-line applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in applied/medical anthropology to begin fall 2019. Selected candidate will teach introductory and upper-division courses which include: Human Sexuality; Medical Anthropology; Humans, Disease, and Death; Applied Anthropology; and Applying Anthropology; help implement our new on-line applied anthropology certificate program and, make contributions to our biomedical anthropology minor. Involvement with online educational initiatives and experience mentoring undergraduate research is greatly valued as is research and professional experience in the area of Native American/Indigenous Studies. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, interdisciplinary learning, the application of new technologies in teaching and scholarship, and the preparation of students for life in a diverse and rapidly changing society. We are seeking dedicated teachers and scholars who possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues and who have demonstrated a commitment to creating, fostering and sustaining an inclusive environment in and out of the classroom. Candidates who already have a record of working with, doing research with, or teaching under-represented groups and have worked collaboratively across various departments in fostering success of underrepresented groups are desired. Teaching responsibilities may include online, hybrid, evening, weekend, and/or off-campus course instruction. An MA in Anthropology is required, Ph.D. preferred.
