The Anthropology Department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biological Anthropology beginning fall semester 2019. Applicants must have expertise and training in both bioarchaeology and forensic anthropology.
Requirements of the position are that the candidate demonstrates an active research program in both bioarchaeology and forensic anthropology. The successful candidate will teach a 2-2 course load of introductory courses in biological anthropology, elective undergraduate courses, and graduate courses in areas of specialization. Preference will be given to candidates who currently have or will actively pursue certification as a Diplomate in the American Board of Forensic Anthropology (DABFA). The successful candidate will be invited to collaborate with the Chief Forensic Anthropologist at Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner, including participation in recoveries, casework, research, and helping direct the forensic anthropology internship program. In addition, preference will be given to candidates with a plan of action for recruiting and mentoring graduate students in the department's PhD program and to those who have a plan for obtaining external funding for their research.
