The Anthropology Department in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Urban Cultural Anthropology. The area of focus is open to Africa, South Asia, South American/Caribbean, as well as oceanic intersections in the Indian Ocean and/or Atlantic World. We are looking for expertise within one or more of the following areas: Medical Anthropology, Policy and Applied Anthropology, Diasporas, Ethnicity, Diversity, and/or Linguistics. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to research as well as to undergraduate and graduate education. The Maxwell School especially seeks candidates open to collaboration and an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and research. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two courses per semester, maintain and active research program and serve on departmental and other university committees. Ph.D. in Anthropology is expected at time of appointment.
