The Department of Anthropology at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for a tenure-track position in Medical Anthropology at the Assistant Professor level beginning fall 2018. Ph.D. required at time of appointment. We seek a medical anthropologist with specialization in health policy, applied clinical anthropology, and/or the critical study of biomedicine. Potential areas of interest include but are not limited to:
Critical medical anthropology
Applied health policy studies
Community-based research approaches
The critical study of biomedicine (including topics such as clinical trials, pharmaceuticals, race and genomics, anthropology of the clinic, risk and genetic screening, new medical technologies)
Candidates would join a three-field department (medical anthropology, biological anthropology and archaeology) with a vibrant terminal MA program in anthropology with an emphasis on producing scholar-practitioners."
Candidates with a proven track record of high impact publications, an ongoing community-driven field research project, high potential for garnering external funding, and an ability to complement faculty strengths and solidify links to the CU Medical campus are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in the successful candidate's area of expertise. The ability and willingness to teach graduate-level courses in anthropological theory and qualitative methods, and the overlap of their research with topics in biological anthropology will be considered a significant asset.
