The Department of Anthropology and Sociology at Knox College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in socio-cultural anthropology to begin September 2018. Knox is an independent, selective liberal arts institution with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a diverse environment. The Anthropology and Sociology Department offers a joint integrativemajor that emphasizes the complementarities of the two disciplines and that culminates in faculty-supervised student research. The College has three academic terms per year, with a teaching load of two courses per term.
Knox is particularly interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to the diversity and inclusivity of our academic community through their research, teaching, and service. Research and teaching interests are open, but the strongest candidates will be those who expand upon the strengths of our existing faculty. Applications from medical anthropologists with teaching and research experience outside of the Caribbean or Southeast Asia are particularly welcome.
Please submit a cover letter addressing your research agenda and undergraduate liberal arts teaching philosophy, a curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching potential (including sample syllabi for existing or future courses and available teaching evaluations), and the names of three references to Professor Nancy Eberhardt at email@example.com. Review of applications begins November 1, 2017 and will continue until the position is filled.
Qualifications: PhD in socio-cultural anthropology expected at time of appointment; exceptional ABD candidates considered.
