The Department of Anthropology, Washington University in St. Louis, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or tenured Associate Professor position in Sociocultural Anthropology, to begin August 2018.
We seek applicants whose research and teaching address issues of contemporary and global significance. The ideal candidate will have a research agenda that combines theoretical, ethnographic, and methodological innovation and rigor. Special attention will be given to candidates who are working on one or more of the following key research themes: critical studies of race, gender and/or sexuality; health and medicine; energy and environment; politics, inequalities, and violence. Geographic area is open.
The successful candidate will work with graduate students in developing research projects and have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching. Candidates should explain how their research complements and/or integrates with existing departmental strengths. Duties include teaching courses, advising students, conducting sponsored research, writing for publication, and university service. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. All applicants must have a PhD in Anthropology or a cognate discipline, and the degree must be in hand by time of appointment. Applicants at the tenured associate level should also have a distinguished record of scholarly publications in the field.
